“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” - Art of War by Sun Tzu
.
I seldom post blogs or bulletins but after watching Pacquiao’s historical win over a formidable warrior called Hitman, it’s time to share my opinion.
.
Since the fight deal was announced, almost everybody had an opinion. Some believed that it will be the end of Pacquaio’s winning streak. During a press conference, Hatton’s trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. recited a sarcastic poem about his prediction on the fight. He even insulted Pacquiao’s trainer by calling him the ‘joke coach Roach’. Now, who is the joke coach? Hatton and his trainer predicted a KO win as if they were so sure about the result. They were so bold with their statements… but when it was Pacquiao’s turn, he said: “Nobody knows what’s gonna happen… only God knows…pray for us”.
.
Pacman doesn’t make predictions even in his previous fights. He knows that anything can happen inside the ring. He understands the possibility of defeat, yet he remained fearless. Even though some think that he’s overrated coz he only defeated the old versions of Barrera, Morales & dela Hoya, he turned those negative views into something positive and used it to fuel his desire to win and once again prove his critics wrong.
.
Pacman knows himself and he knows his enemy very well. He respects Hatton’s strength but he capitalized on his opponent’s weaknesses and made him pay for every mistakes made. With only few seconds left in round 2, a left hook punctuated the fight. What an exclamation point!!!
